La Seda de Barcelona increases production in El Prat de Llobregat

La Seda de Barcelona, which in the past month of April started up production in its El Prat de Llobregat-based plant, is increasing its production capacity by starting up its second production line.

Artenius Prat – with a current headcount of 122 people – has a production capacity of 170.000 annual tons of PET polymer. By starting up this second line, the plant’s production output will amount to 14.000MT per month, making up 28% of La Seda de Barcelona’s total capacity, which currently totals 50.000 MT per month, reaching an occupancy rate of 95%.

The favourable market situation allows the company to start recovering its market share. Due to this reason and in order to adapt to the demand and to comply with its customer requests – which are the leading companies in the consumer sector – the Company has decided to increase the production of its Prat-based installations. This industrial increase will gradually continue until reaching 100% of its installed capacity in the month of June.

At present, the PET Group production plants in Turkey, Italy – San Giorgio -, Portugal and Greece are also operating.
