Ticona Introduces World's First Copolymer That Delivers Superior Mechanical Properties And Long-Term Stability
Ticona Engineering Polymers introduced high-strength Hostaform® HS15 — the latest addition to its family of acetal copolymers (POM) with enhanced characteristics designed into the polymer's DNA via changes to the backbone chemistry.
Located at Booth W2B01 in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Pudong, Shanghai, Ticona is showcasing high-strength Hostaform POM, which combines superior mechanical properties with long-term stability and chemical resistance to give customers a competitive edge in developing innovative automotive, fluid handling, sports and leisure, conveying system and consumer applications.
“Ticona achieved a full-fledged revolution with Hostaform HS15,” said Vincent Notorgiacomo, Hostaform POM product manager - Americas. “This new generation of POM offers features that clearly differentiate it from other copolymers and provides wider design latitude. It’s the first acetal copolymer with this set of properties. That’s why our near-term plans focus on applications that were impossible for our POM products in the past — ones that were previously addressed using polyamides or metals.”
“As the global leader in POM innovation, Ticona scientists continue to significantly expand the application landscape for what was previously possible with conventional POM, introducing high-impact Hostaform S9364 at Chinaplas 2008; Hostaform POM S 9362 and S 9363 for high productivity at Chinaplas 2009; and now the introduction of high-strength Hostaform HS15 at Chinaplas 2010,” said Mervyn Cox, POM product marketing manager - Asia. “With new Hostaform HS15, Ticona expands its customer's design space into applications where POM has never been able to play.”
