New Product Grades Highlight ExxonMobil Chemical’s Technology Capabilities at Chinaplas 2010

ExxonMobil Chemical will showcase its broad range of products, including several new additions to the portfolio, at Chinaplas 2010 International Exhibition at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in Shanghai.

“For ten consecutive years, ExxonMobil has participated in Chinaplas to demonstrate our continued support and commitment to our customers and the Asian market,” said TJ Wojnar, senior vice president, ExxonMobil Chemical. “Chinaplas offers us the ideal setting to showcase our new products that highlight our continued excellence in technology and innovation.”

ExxonMobil will feature several recently introduced products at Chinaplas, including news grades of Vistamaxx™ specialty elastomers, Enable™ metallocene polyethylene resins, and polypropylene impact copolymers.

Four new grades of Vistamaxx propylene-based elastomers (6202FL/6102FL/3980FL/3020FL) are designed for high performance film applications. They exhibit a low gel count, provide processing and performance improvements and protect investments in film aesthetics, offering film formulators, converters and end-users new options for next generation film designs.

The Enable metallocene polyethylene (mPE) that was launched at Chinaplas in 2008 has expanded its portfolio of resins. The new Enable mPE 35-05 grade provides converters and end-users with significant downgauging opportunities, which can lead to more sustainable flexible film possibilities. It can enhance the performance of numerous applications, including shrink film, overwrap film, laminates, medium and heavy duty bags, and other high performance films. Enable mPE generates less process waste than other polyethylene resins used in existing applications, and it is recyclable. Its transparency and toughness makes Enable mPE ideal for packaging and well-suited for agricultural greenhouse films.

ExxonMobil Chemical, celebrating 50 years in the polypropylene (PP) business, also will introduce three PP grades (PP755KNE2/PP7684KN/PP7032KN) that are new to the Asia Pacific region. Each grade can enhance performance, while lowering production costs, for a number of applications including food packaging containers, medium duty crates, totes and bins, refrigeration bins, industrial pallets and crates, toys and sporting goods, and furniture. Among the other products on display will be Santoprene™ thermoplastic vulcanizates and Exxtral™ Performance Polyolefins.

At Chinaplas, visitors will be able to see how ExxonMobil Chemical’s products are used in the manufacturing process. The company is working with manufacturers to demonstrate various end use applications on the manufacturing equipment at the exhibition.

Visitors also will have the opportunity to attend several seminars on innovative solutions to automotive applications, as well as introductions to the Company’s new product offerings. “Our technological advances continue to bring higher valued products to markets such as China in the hope of improving the quality of life for each and every citizen,” Wojnar said. “We continually seek opportunities to respond to customers’ needs and are fully committed to being a reliable, global supplier and technology leader.”
