Sibur Selects Licensor for Future Thermoplastics Plant
As part of preparations for an investment project to build a new thermoplastics facility at Voronezhsintezkauchuk JSC, SIBUR has signed a licensing agreement with TSRC Corporation, a Taiwanese company. Under the agreement SIBUR will receive a process for the production of seven thermoplastics grades to the highest European standards.
The basic design for the new 50 kta plant is to be prepared in 2009. The investment project will be implemented by RUSTEP LLC, a SIBUR subsidiary.
Main applications of butadiene-styrene thermoelectroplastics (TEPs) – modification of bitumen for road construction, production of roofing materials, footwear industry, glues and adhesives. Production of polymer-modified bitumen for the road-building industry is one of the fastest growing segments.
Founded in 1973, TSRC (www.tsrc.com.tw) is a major producer of synthetic rubber in Asia. Main products: butadiene-styrene and polybutadiene rubber, butadiene-styrene thermoplastics and compounds. Revenue in 2008 - $938 million, net profit - $95 million.
