Nowofol defies the financial crisis and continues to expand
To be fully prepared for the future and the continuously growing markets in Eastern Europe, Russia, Asia and South America, NOWOFOL's tenth production system for monoaxially oriented Polypropylene films for thickness from 50 to 150 µm was put into operation at the end of November 2008. This is the company’s sixth internally designed Polypropylene film system. Numerous innovations and modifications in extrusion, transmission and winding techniques and longitudinal stretching equipment guarantee economical, energy-saving and safe film production with state of the art technology.
NOWOFOL® is fully convinced, that with its new production system, it can expand its already very wide-ranging product portfolio with further high quality film types in the low and high tensile film segment.
This innovative medium-sized enterprise in Siegsdorf (Germany) is recognized in the film sector as a global leading manufacturer of monoaxially oriented Polypropylene films, HDPE and other polyolefins. The main areas of application for these films are primarily technical applications, such as high tear-resistant strapping tapes, tear tapes for the tobacco and packaging industries, carry handles in the beverage industry, and release liners for double-sided tapes and die cuts in the automotive and electronics industries. The high quality flat, high tear-resistant and exceptionally easy to coat films are required for all of these applications.
The company’s product range is complemented by special compact, foamed, coextruded, filled or cavitated films for cable bundling and insulating, decorative ribbons, laminated film labels, package bands, transfer print and thermoforming applications, speaker membranes, decorative material in the sporting goods sector, and much more. Non-oriented films made of Polypropylene, HDPE, PA12 and other raw materials (e.g. coextruded with hot melt adhesive) in the 80 to 800 µm thickness range for niche markets also belong to the NOWOFOL® special area of activity. So it is no wonder that the company has had a lab extrusion line for small volumes from 100 kg and film widths up to 500 mm in operation for more than twenty years. The pilot line is an ideal supplement to NOWOFOL’s big plant systems, and in addition to small productions, it is also used to develop new films and optimize existing film qualities, test new raw materials, color batches and additives, and to finalize optimum film formulas.
