Arkema presents the latest generation of its Carbon Nanotube range at the Nanotech fair in Tokyo

ArkemaArkema, a world leader in multiwall carbon nanotubes, presents the latest generation of its Graphistrength® masterbatches at the Nanotech fair in Tokyo from February 18 to 20.

Superior processability in a wide range of thermoplastic matrices
These new thermoplastic masterbatches feature improved processability at lower temperature and are very safe to use. They are easy to dilute into compounds with remarkable electrostatic dissipation (ESD) properties for low carbon nanotube concentrations. These compounds can be either extruded or injection-molded. Graphistrength® masterbatches are available for a variety of matrices: polycarbonate, and polyamide 6, 11 and 12.

In the very near future, Arkema will market a « universal » masterbatch, Graphistrength® C M12-20, which can be diluted in various thermoplastic matrices, including polyamides, polyesters and polycarbonate. This new masterbatch will combine straightforward dilution, safety, and versatility of use.

A grade for hotmelt adhesives with ESD properties
Arkema presents a specific masterbatch, Graphistrength® C M2-20, designed for applications involving hotmelt adhesives with ESD properties. Hotmelt application requires low viscosity, a prerequisite for optimum processing, and a low modulus to ensure adhesion. Both these essential characteristics are extremely difficult to maintain when ESD properties are also required.

Arkema revisited this application and successfully reached the necessary compromise between viscosity, adhesion and conductivity by using a lower Graphistrengthâ multiwall carbon nanotube content ideally dispersed in a suitable thermoplastic matrix, e.g. a copolyamide from the Platamid® series.

With Graphistrength® C M2-20, an original and unique product, Arkema opens the way for new applications for its customers.

Soon a grade for fluorinated elastomers Arkema is developing a new specific masterbatch, Graphistrength® C E1-20, in a fluorinated elastomer matrix. This product is easy to dilute in complete safety in the various standard equipment available. It helps produce materials that combine remarkable ESD and mechanical properties for low carbon nanotube concentrations.
