Three million pound investment made at PVC extrusion plant
Rehau is investing £3m at a PVC extrusion plant in the UK in response to an increase in business won by the group.
The investment at Rehau’s Amlwch plant on the Isle of Anglesey includes a new fully automated polymer mixing plant and two new production lines for furniture edgeband PVC-U window gasket extrusion. The equipment is expected to be in operation by March 2008.
Rehau needs to increase the roof height to accommodate the large silo fed mixing plant which will be used for PVC-U blending. The company said normal production will continue at Amlwch while the construction work is carried out by local contractors.
Rehau said: “The investment reflects the success of the Amlwch plant in recent years in securing new business from within the Rehau group and its determination to remain globally competitive.”
The Amlwch plant employs 150 staff, but new positions for skilled processors will be created as a result of the investment. Rehau will also increase the number of craft apprenticeships on offer to local youngsters.
Rehau’s other manufacturing facilities in the UK are in Widnes, Blaenau Plastics in Ffestiniog and Aspen Windows in Lenwade.
