Repsol YPF selects Innovene process for LLDPE plant

Repsol YPF has chosen Ineos-owned technology for the LLDPE plant it is building at a polyolefins complex in Sines, Portugal.

The Spanish company’s ˆ600m project also involves a new polypropylene plant and a 40% increase in cracker capacity (PRW.com 27 July 2006). The current Sines capacities are 350,000tpa of ethylene, 145,000tpa of LDPE and 130,000tpa of HDPE.

The new LLDPE plant will have a 300,000tpa capacity of mixed LLDPE products.

Ineos Technologies has licensed its Innovene G process to Repsol YPF. Ineos said the Sines plant will incorporate its latest developments, including Clean Loop design, higher productivity and the newest Ziegler-Natta and metallocene catalyst platforms.

Chief executive of Ineos Technologies, Peter Williams, said: “The Innovene G technology has undergone substantial development in recent years and this award by Repsol, after a thorough and detailed evaluation, is recognition of the value that the technology offers our licensees and their customers.”
