Carlyle Group seeking buyer for HT Troplast

Washington-based private equity firm Carlyle Group wants to sell PVC profile and sheet maker HT Troplast AG of Troisdorf.

Carlyle owns 55 percent of the company. Boston-based Advent International owns 45 percent.

HT Tropast is the parent of Profine International Profile Group GmbH, which oversees a group of building-product brands, including Kommerling, which manufactures cellular PVC trim and sheet.

Carlyle spokeswoman Emma Thorpe declined to comment on the reason Carlyle is seeking bids for Troplast, which it bought in December 2004. Thorpe also declined to comment on operational changes during Carlyle’s ownership.
