Swiss injection moulding machinery manufacturer Netstal is replacing its Synergy machines with a new design EVOS hybrid, five-point toggle drive machine range.
The move will leave Netstal making just all-electric and hybrid drive injection moulding machinery.
Netstal announced the news on the first day of its 150th anniversary open house event at its Näfels headquarters. Two of the new models will be seen running live at the company's stand at the K 2007 fair in Düsseldorf in October.
The EVOS machines will be available initially with clamping forces in the 200 to 500 tonne range.
Netstal's chief executive, Bernhard Merki, told PRW.com that delivery of the first EVOS machines is due to start in the second quarter 2008. The new machines will replace within two to three years the entire Synergy range, which comprises hydraulic machines up to 500 tonnes and hybrid versions between 500 and 800 tonnes.
Merki said that Netstal “will try to obtain at least the same number of machines sold as the Synergy range, maybe to even expand upon these numbers in view of the special features of the EVOS machines”.
Dr Thomas Robers, general manager of marketing, sales and application development, said these features include: extra space between the platens to accommodate larger moulds; the ability to handle high material and water cooling flow rates; and energy-saving servo-electric drives will be available across the entire EVOS range.
The EVOS machines have a similar visual design as the Elion all-electric machines. They will be initially offered in 200, 300, 420 and 500 tonne versions, with three of the four machine sizes available for delivery from the second quarter of 2008. Four screw diameters will be available for each clamping force and they will include integrated media distribution for water and hydraulic oil.
