Deal strengthens German maker’s speciality focus.

German PVC maker Vinnolit is buying Ineos ChlorVinyls’ emulsion PVC business for an undisclosed sum. The sale covers plants at Hillhouse, in the UK, and Schkopau, in Germany, as well as the offtake of the entire output from the E-PVC plant at Porto Torres in Italy, together with the commercial goodwill of the business.

The Ineos ChlorVinyls business in emulsion PVC has a turnover of around E150 million. Its sale will allow the UK company to focus on its S-PVC business, which it is extending with the take-over of the Hydro Polymers business, subject to regulatory approval, in a deal announced earlier this week.

Emulsion or paste PVC is central to the Vinnolit business, the German company points out; its overall PVC capacity will rise from 680,000tpa to 780,000tpa as a result of the deal, says the Advent International owned firm, whose headquarters is near Munich.

In a statement, Vinnolit managing directors Josef Ertl and Ralph Ottinger said: “This step perfectly fits into our growth strategy and will further strengthen our position in the field of PVC specialities.”
