Unipetrol sells Kaucuk subsidiary

2 February 2007 – Czech petrochemicals group Unipetrol has sold its Kaucuk subsidiary to the Dwory, a Polish producer of synthetic rubbers and styrene plastics, for ˆ195m.

Dwory said the deal would produce “synergic effects” resulting from the similar production profiles of both companies.

Kaucuk produces ethylobenzene (capacity 300,000tpa), styrene (170,000tpa), butadiene (90,000), styrene/butadiene rubbers (85,000tpa), polystyrene (70,000tpa).

The construction and operation of a new butadiene extraction unit was also announced. Kaucuk will take a 49% stake in the unit with Unipetrol Capital Group taking the remainder.

The majority stakeholder of the Unipetrol, which is headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic, is the Polish company Pkn Orlen.
