26 January 2007 - Italian thermoplastic compounds supplier LATI has signed an agreement with Degussa for distribution of its Vestakeep PEEK polymer in the markets of southern Europe, effective 1 November, 2006.
Degussa’s Vestakeep materials are currently available in two viscosities and reinforced with glass fibres, carbon fibres, graphite and PTFE. Further grades will be offered in a few months.
LATI says it will develop its own compounds based on PEEK that will be sold under the tradename Larpeek. The range will include coloured formulations as well as special grades characterised by their self-lubricating, superior mechanical and conductive performance. Technical support for customers will include moulding design software and laboratory facilities for trials and testing.
LATI’s range of compounds includes four main groups of products: technical thermoplastics; self-extinguishing compounds; high performance polymers; special compounds with specific properties, such as EMI shielding. It had a turnover in 2005 of ˆ110m.
