UK polymer seals group is reformed

10 January 2007 – Beldam Lascar, the UK-based seals, jointings and packings company, has been bought by Pexion, which will reunite it with former sister companies.

Beldam Lascar was set up by Robert Beldam 118 years ago to supply products to the marine engineering sector. An expansion into general industry followed in the 1960s, but ownership of spin-off companies became dispersed among Beldam family members.

Beldam Lascar will now be brought together with Beldam Burgmann and companies initially part of the same group, Beldam Crossley and Beldam Packings & Rubber, which are now owned by Pexion.

The structure of Beldam Burgmann – which makes seals from PTFE, as well as other products – came together in March last year, when privately owned Pexion joined with the packing and static sealings arm of Eagle Burgmann Industries.

Pexion chairman Jon Hillestad paid tribute to the late Robert Beldam, grandson of the original founder and chairman of Beldam Lascar until 2003.

He said: “Our aim now is to continue to build on the excellent growth and profitability that Mr Beldam achieved and to ensure that the company can look forward to another century of success.”
