8 January 2007 – Polimoon Packaging, a manufacturer of rigid plastic packaging for the consumer market, has announced that it will close its site in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, UK.
Polimoon Sutton lost a major contract at the end of last year. A spokesperson told PRW.com that 26 redundancies have been finalised as a result.
A further 55 jobs could also be lost in the closure. The company has entered into a consultation period and in a statement said that it will “endeavour to transfer jobs where practical.”
PRW.com was told that further details, such as when the facility would close its doors, could not be released until the consultation period was over.

We can see with the closure of Polimoon [Sutton] that the current climate here in the UK for manufacturing is not looking very good. With increases in taxation and more and more red tape British industry is now becoming uncompetitive. Let’s just hope that this current government gets the wake up call and does something soon.
