Leyland Rubber to go into liquidation

14 December 2006 – Leyland Rubber, a rubber products manufacturer in Lancashire, the northwest of England, has ceased trading and is due to be liquidated in the New Year.

An insolvency administrator with Marshall Peters Ltd told PRW.com the company will formally go into liquidation on 9 January.

A 28-day notice period announcing the liquidation has to be given to creditors said the administrator.

Ninety jobs will be affected by the closure, PRW.com has learnt. A Leyland employee said the news was broken on Wednesday (13 December) and workers had to leave the premises on the same day.

Members of staff are still owed wages, said the employee, and there are concerns over the payment of subscriptions to their union.

PRW.com has discovered that a petition for insolvency had been brought against Leyland by a claimed creditor in August of this year but the petition was withdrawn.
