23 November 2006 – Messe Luzern has announced that it will hold the first ever plastics fair in Switzerland, Swiss Plastics, scheduled to take place in Lucerne in the period 15-17 January 2008.
Swiss Plastics will take place therefore in the same year as, but well separated from, the next Fakuma fair in Friedrichshafen (October 2008), an event that has been attracting a significant number of Swiss exhibitors and visitors on account of its geographical proximity to both Switzerland and plastics processing industry in southern Germany.
The aim of the new fair is to show as many specialities and innovations as possible as “the pearls of a successful industry”, and is aimed in particular at export-oriented companies in Switzerland.
Support for the event has already come from the Swiss KVS plastics industry association and companies such as mouldmaker Georg Kaufmann, plastics processor Romay, electrical terminal manufacturer Wago Contact, but also from foreign companies such as injection moulding machinery producers Arburg, Battenfeld, and Krauss-Maffei, as well as the Swiss subsidiary of medical equipment manufacturer Medisize.
