Victor Plastics expands with Mississippi acquisition
Nov. 8--NORTH LIBERTY ... Victor Plastics Inc. has expanded its manufacturing capacity and enhanced service for two of its major customers with the acquisition of a Mississippi company.
On Oct. 6, Victor, a custom plastics injection molder, purchased the assets of Kincses Tool & Molding Corp. of Flora, Miss. Transaction terms were not disclosed by the privately owned businesses.
Victor Plastics serves clients in a broad range of industries, including appliances, consumer products, beverages, electronics and automotive. Kincses Tool & Molding was primarily a supplier of parts for the automotive industry.
Michael Tryon, chief executive officer of Victor Plastics, said the Mississippi business, renamed Victor Plastics Inc., Flora, Miss., Division, is part of his company's expansion plans.
"We bought the company to service two of our customers that have plants in that area," Tryon said. "Viking, a high-end appliance manufacturer of refrigerators and ranges, has a plant in Greenwood, Miss. Whirlpool, which acquired Maytag-Amana earlier this year, has a facility in Oxford, Miss."
Tryon said Victor Plastics plans to aggressively grow employment in Flora, doubling the existing work force of 50 to 100 over the next three months.
Victor Plastics employs 720 people in North Liberty, Kalona and Victor. Tryon said the company is looking for people to fill openings created by sustained growth.
"We're probably 30 or 40 people short at our Iowa facilities," Tryon said. "We need people to work in hourly positions in manufacturing."
