Uponor presents business strategy

9 November 2006 – At its capital markets day in Helsinki, the Finnish pipe manufacturer Uponor outlined its growth strategy.

The company aims to turn its new cooling system into a core application, and within ten years, mirror the market position enjoyed by its underfloor heating business.

An Uponor spokesman told PRW.com that this cooling system has been used at Suvarnabhumi Airport, also known as (New) Bangkok International Airport, which opened in September of this year.

“Uponor believes that the radiant cooling markets, in particular, will grow supported by rising energy costs and the population’s increasing environmental awareness,” said the company’s statement.

The high-rise building market was said to be another growth area, with opportunities for its plumbing, radiant floor heating and cooling systems.

Uponor’s ceo Jan Lång said the company wanted to achieve an organic growth rate of 6%.

Lång also said: “This year, the use of plastic pipes will exceed the use of copper pipes in plumbing system installations.”

Uponor’s spokesman said this statement was based partly on “commercial statistics” available for Europe and North American and on Uponor’s own data.
