Azelis Plastics wins Matrixx Europe contract

10 November 2006 – Technical compounder Matrixx Europe has appointed Azelis to distribute its products under a pan European agreement which excludes Germany, Spain and France where arrangements are already in place. Products will be manufactured at the company’s 20 000 tonnes a year plant at Marcaria, in Italy, which is to be doubled in size early next year.

Azelis Plastics, owner of Pan Polymers and Polymers Direct in the UK as well as polymer distribution firms in most key European markets, says that the Matrixx Europe range will fit in well with its existing portfolio. “Matrixx produce highly specialised compounds such as flame retardants from polyamide, PBT and polypropylene,” explains Francesco Bonizzoni, managing director of Azelis Plastics.

Matrixx Europe was formed in 2003 by privately owned US compounder Matrixx, which has five US plants and Tessil Futura of Milan, which began in 1995 as a trading firm before moving into PET and PA agencies and manufacture. The joint venture’s plant at Marcaria, near Mantua, came on stream the following year.
