Hellyar sells masterbatch business to Matrix Plastics

1 November 2006 – Matrix Plastics of Slough, UK, has bought the masterbatch business of Kentish compounder and distributor Hellyar Plastics for an undisclosed sum.

The deal, covering essentially the Hellyar customer list and formulations, takes effect from today with Matrix assuring customers that the two companies will work closely together throughout November to ensure an orderly and continuous supply over the transitional period.

Based in Whitstable, Hellyar has been making both polymer specific and universal masterbatches using unique formulations developed in partnership with customers. It serves a variety of high end markets along similar lines to those of new owner Matrix. “Therefore the transfer of business will be seamless for customers who are buying Hellyar masterbatches,” says Nigel Batt, Matrix Plastics managing director.

Manufacture of colour masterbatch has been one of three legs of the Hellyar Plastics portfolio along with compounding and the firm’s distribution arm.
