25 September 2006 – The Kent-based masterbatch company Begg & Co has formed a joint venture with Hardie Polymers, the family-owned plastics distributor based in Glasgow.
Hardie Polymers will now represent Begg in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Among the Scottish firms other clients are Demag Ergotech, Jenco Engineering Solutions, Nova Frigo, Plasdan, and Wittmann (UK).
Begg and Hardies first made contact during a recent BPF trade mission to the Czech Republic. Managing director Bill Begg said: “I was immediately impressed by the quality and expertise of the Hardies people at the exhibition, and this opinion has only been reinforced through subsequent dealings. There are lots of similarities between the two companies, historically and ethically, but more importantly in the attitude and urgency accorded to customers enquiries.”
Begg also highlighted the tooling and machinery expertise of Hardies and said that this would bring added value to his company’s customer base.
Managing director Fergus Hardie said: “The technical support offered by Begg has already impressed at a number of accounts, but of greatest interest is the innovation of the Mould Perfect additive, which we believe will be able to resolve many of our customers’ process and commercial issues.”
