Moosburg site to triple capacity for PVC additives
German chemicals manufacturer Sud-Chemie is tripling capacity for Sorbacid and Hycite hydrotalcite PVC additives at its Moosburg site in Germany.
Annual capacity for the heavy metal-free co-stabilisers for Ca/Zn stabiliser systems will rise to 15,000t by 2008. The company says the capacity increase is in response to increasing demand for such additives by producers of cables, foil, profiles and sheet.
Hydrotalcite is a synthetic aluminium-magnesium-hydroxycarbonate that is being used to replace lead-based PVC additives.
