Borealis to strengthen Borstar technical capability
Borealis is to invest between ˆ20m and ˆ30m in a new pilot scale polypropylene (PP) plant at its Schwechat site in Austria.
The semi-commercial scale unit will be opened in 2008/9, Wim Roels, vp Innovation and Technology told a press conference in Vienna.
The polyolefins company is highlighting its multi-modal Borstar technology at the inauguration of a new 350,000tpa PE and 90,000tpa debottlenecking of its PP unit at the site today.
The pilot plant will enable Borealis to replicate its production technology and further its commitment to differentiated products and customer support. The group, which introduced 63 new products last year, showcased new developments in long-fibre reinforced PP injection stretch blow moulding, multi-layer film for thermoforming and PP piping at the event.
