The Dow Chemical Company and Russian polyurethane specialist Izolan have announced a joint venture to provide polyurethane systems for the Russian market. The new company Dow Izolan will be based in Vladimir, a city 170km northeast of Moscow. A joint statement said the venture will combine Dow’s Polyurethane Systems business with the market experience of Izolan, which itself is based in Vladimir.

Dow Izolan is expected to employ more than one hundred employees and there are plans to build a new production plant close to Vladimir within the next two years. Izolan’s general manager Mikhail Tsarfin said: “Dow and Izolan have been working together since the 1990s on various commercial projects.”

Adriaan van den Berge, the general manager for Dow Europe in Russia, added that the venture was the latest example of Dow’s commitment to building solid businesses in the region.
