Company exceeds growth targets in all markets except North America

The Finnish pipe manufacturer has posted a 23.5% increase in operating profit for the first two quarters of this year. Worth €61.7m, the first half profits have exceeded targets in all markets except North America. While acknowledging that profitability in North America was a “disappointment”, the company said that its net sales continued to grow in the region despite a decline in construction industry demand.

Commenting on the success of the company’s plumbing systems, chief executive Jan Lång said: “The price of copper has remained high thus speeding up the migration of installers to the use of plastic and composite pipe systems.” In its statement, Uponor said that an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system has been implemented for the first time, at a site in Germany. ERP software is used by organisations to streamline their business processes while allowing the information to be shared across the enterprise.
