The gravity sewer pipe unit has been sold to Maincor

International pipe company Uponor has sold its non-core central European gravity sewer pipe business to concentrate on plumbing and heating systems. The deal with German firm Maincor includes the business and assets of Uponor Anger based in Marl, Germany, and its shareholding in subsidiary firm Uponor Czech.

A German sewer and rain sewer system plant has also been divested, but Uponor retains its German plastics and composite plumbing and heating production facilities. The divested business employs around 80 people and had annual net sales of E3m in Uponor’s second quarter earnings.

Tarmo Anttila, vice president of communications, said: “We have divested the infrastructure or utility business there but we are still leading in German plumbing and heating systems within houses.” Withdrawal from this market is not expected to have a direct impact on the IE business in the UK or Nordic countries.
