Leadership among European producers, with 15% market share, is sought

Engel is aiming to become the market leader among European producers of all-electric moulding machines, with the Austrian company striving for a 15% market share within the next three years for its E-Motion machines. Chairman of Engel Austria, Georg Tinschert, said production of all-electric machines will reach 10% of all machines made by Engel in the 2005/06 financial year. The company aims to increase this to 15% by 2006/07.

With more than 200 E-Motion machines expected to be sold in 2006, Tinschert said this compares with an overall market of some 1,300 to 1,400 machines per year in Europe. Engel additionally sells around 50-60 hydraulic/electric hybrid machines annually, Tinschert revealed. Engel Holding chairman Peter Neumann stated that Engel aims to get the E-Motion price level down to the same level as the more sophisticated hydraulic machines within the next two years.

The E-Motion range presently extends from 55 to 280 tonnes. Engel will however add a 380 tonne machine by the end of 2006, a 500 tonne machine by the time of the K2007 fair, as well as a smaller machine below 55 tonnes.
