Demand for Bericap’s products is growing in Central Asia

Plastic container top manufacturer Bericap is to set up a factory in Kazakhstan after securing a loan from the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Bericap Kazakhstan will receive the $2.5m (E1.95m) loan to help it build a factory in Kazakhstan’s largest city and former capital, Almaty. The factory will help it supply all five countries of Central Asia plus Azerbaijan and Georgia.

The EBRD said it hoped the move would “stimulate smaller food-production companies to enter and compete in a fast-growing market. The bank’s experience across the region will also help the Bericap Group in its plans to build a regional presence in Central Asia.” Bericap Kazakhstan, established five years ago, supplies 64 companies across a wide range of industries including drinks, oils, pharmaceutical, chemical and liquid food.

Half of the company’s sales are in Kazakhstan, where Bericap was established originally as a distribution hub for Bericap Group sales in Central Asia. However demand was so strong the company set up a production facility there three years ago.
