Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik and its US subsidiary American Maplan have jointly acquired a 14% stake in Kabra Extrusionstechnik in Mumbai, India.
Kabra, which is a listed company, is the largest manufacturer of extrusion equipment in the Indian sub-continent. It has worked closely with Battenfeld, and has built extruders under Battenfeld licence for a long time.
President and chief executive of Battenfeld Extrusion Wolfgang Studener said: “Our collaboration has developed into a strategic partnership which binds us together even more closely than ever before. The Indian market is a top priority for us, and I am firmly convinced that, jointly with Kabra, we will further extend our technological leadership there.”
SV Kabra, president and chief executive of Kabra, said the new deal will allow Kabra more substantial access to western technology. “Our common goal is to further strengthen our already strong position in the local market by offering top-grade equipment at an outstanding price/performance ratio.”
