Three business units will be created around different machine ranges

A reorganisation at Ferromatik Milacron, in which 90 redundancies will be made, will see the German company create business units around its different injection moulding machine series. It has reached agreement with the works council and union about the redundancies and a way forward that continues machine production at the Malterdingen factory (PRW.com 4 May). The US parent company Milacron has “declared its agreement with the safeguarding of the location and unequivocally backs [the reorganisation] concept”, it said.

The traditional structure around sales, engineering and production will be replaced by a divisional organisation with three business units based on the three machine series Elektra Evolution, K-Tec and Maxima. Each business unit will have their own sales, engineering and production functions. Managing director Karlheinz Bourdon explained the rationale: “Through these small internal companies, management structures are leveled out, the individual employee receives greater decision-making competence and the team is in a position to make decisions faster and respond more quickly to matters related to product and market.” He continued: “Machine construction in Germany must become more flexible and better attuned to market conditions.”
