Partner Chen Hsong will concentrate on its injection moulding machine business

SMS group has purchased the 40% minority interest of its partner Chen Hsong in the Battenfeld Chen Extrusion Systems operation in China. The company has a production facility in Shunde, Guangdong Province, and sales offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hunan and Fujian.

Battenfeld Chen Extrusion Systems was created 10 years ago, based on the pipe, profile equipment technology of Battenfeld Extrusion Technology in Germany, the film and sheet extrusion technology of Battenfeld Gloucester in the US and Chen Hsong’s “marketing and distribution networks and knowledge of doing business in China”. The change in ownership is part of SMS strategy to fully own its subsidiaries and now means that Chen Hsong will be able to concentrate more on its own injection moulding machinery business.

Speaking at a press conference held at Chinaplas 2006, Harold F Wrede, who is chairman of the company now renamed Battenfeld Extrusion Systems, said: “Our relationship with Chen Hsong during the past 10 years has been in every respect invaluable in building up our Chinese extrusion activities.”
