The kneading technology business serves the PVC compounding sector
Extrusion equipment giant Coperion has sold its Buss arm to a Swiss entrepreneur for an undisclosed sum in a deal back-dated to 1 January.
Buss specialises in kneading systems widely used in PVC compounding as well as the food, paint and chemicals sectors and employs 200 people at its base near Basle, in Switzerland.
Coperion says that the sale will allow it to concentrate on the twin-screw extrusion capabilities of its Coperion Werner & Pfleiderer business, as well as its material handling specialist Coperion Waeschle.
Under Coperion ownership, Buss has won a global position and accolades such as the Basel Innovation Prize for its quantec high performance kneading technology. Last year, Buss turned over some SFr60m (E38m).
“The acquisition of a controlling interest in Buss by Fabrel Lotos, one of Switzerland’s most experienced industrial financial investors, is excellent news,” said Dr Beat Sturzenegger who remains at the helm of Buss AG.
“With their support we will be able to further strengthen our development pipeline and will only serve to increase the focus of our highly motivated team on being a solutions and innovations led provider of kneading and compounding systems.”
