Conference examines new food contact regulations in Europe and the US
New and important developments in the European and US systems for regulating plastics used in food contact applications will be examined in detail at the fourth Food Contact Plastics workshop and conference in June.
Slow progress of the Super Regulation seems to have prompted the EC to incorporate several elements within the fourth – and latest – amendment to the Plastics Directive, bringing forward the timeline for implementation. Meanwhile, the US government is considering slashing funding for the FDA’s Food Contact Notification scheme.
Set against this background, the latest regulatory position in Europe and the US will be laid out in detail in a special Food Contact Plastics workshop session.
The European position will be covered by Jean-Philippe Montfort, partner with international law firm Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw and an expert in European packaging and chemicals regulation.
Eric F Greenberg, founder of Chicago-based law firm Eric F Greenberg PC and an acknowledged authority on US food contact regulations, will cover the latest position in the US.
