Husky's sales grew 11%, buoyed by strong performances in Europe and North America

Husky, the Canadian supplier of injection moulding machinery, has posted improved interim sales and profits. For the six months ending 31 January 2006, it reported an 11% increase in sales to $407m (E341m) due to strong order intakes. Profit for the period was $2.7m (E2.3m), compared to a loss of nearly $3m (E2.5m) for the previous half-year.

Sales in Europe rose by 13% due mainly to strong PET deliveries to eastern Europe. However, currency effects reduced sales in euros by around $7m (E5.9m), said Husky. North American sales rose 14% due to higher shipments in all markets. Sales to Asia also recovered, rising 8%.
