Graham Packaging has started a bottle-making facility at Royal Numico’s plant in Zoetemeer, near The Hague, the Netherlands.
The blow moulder will use proprietary technology to make HDPE multilayer bottles for Numico’s infant milk and clinical nutritional products in Europe.
Geoffrey Lu, vice president and general manager of Graham Packaging Europe, said: “We are helping Numico make the conversion from brick packs to more consumer-friendly plastic bottles. From our perspective, the partnership with Numico enhances our position in a strategically important market - the dairy market.”
The bottle-making facility has been built next to Numico’s filling lines. Graham Packaging currently has 20 employees working there.
The company said that approximately one-third of its 88 manufacturing facilities are at customers’ plants. In its global strategy, it attempts to pursue on-site manufacturing arrangements with customers in all of its business units, it said.
