Arkema is selling its Pryltex long fibre thermoplastics (LFT) business to Fact in Germany, in a move that will see the closure of a production plant in France.
Arkema produces Pryltex glass fibre reinforced polypropylene at Dieuze, part of its Carling facility in Moselle, north eastern France.
The company said: “The competitiveness of [the] plant has been impaired by too small a production capacity, as well as a difficulty in standing out from other suppliers in a highly competitive market.”
Rival LFT producer Fact, part of the Ravago group, will acquire 100% of the Pryltex business and transfer production to its newly built plant in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The plant has the capacity to produce 20,000tpa of LFTs, including the Factor range.
Arkema has submitted the sale plan to its Central Works Council.
