Lanxess to supply more ABS for wing mirrors

Lanxess has unveiled a closer relationship with wing mirror giant Schefenacher that will mean it supplies the plastic for every third wing mirror made in Europe. The agreement with the world’s leading wing mirror manufacturer will lead to a 50% plus increase in deliveries of colour compounded Lanxess ABS grades Lustran H701 and H702 by the end of next year. “Lanxess is our number one supplier of pigmented plastics for the coated wing mirrors we provide to renowned automobile manufacturers,” said Hans-Joachim Lange, who heads Schefenacher.

The polymer is made at Lanxess’s Tarragona site in Spain which is being upgraded as part of the restructuring of its ABS business. “Relocating to Spain will enable us to achieve greater flexibility and accelerate the flow of information. This will enable us to continue to be a reliable partner for our customers in Europe,” said Stefan Michel, head of Styrenic Resins for Europe and Latin America.
