Growth in demand for its range of advanced polymer components such as desk edgebands and worktops has prompted Rehau to spend nearly £200,000 (E290,000) on emission treatment at its Amlwch factory in Anglesey.
The new abatement plant enables the company to burn off emissions more quickly and efficiently. Factory manager Peter Ault said: “There has never been any threat to the environment from the Rehau plant – it is simply that the existing abatement measures couldn’t keep up with our output.”
The success of the plant, whose products are used in the office furniture, automotive and PVC-U industries, has also led to the recruitment of a further 17 new employees since last autumn, the German company’s UK operation said.
