Finnish pipes and plumbing group Uponor is to grow its presence in the high-rise building sector, as part of a growth strategy announced today.
The firm has identified single-family housing as one sector that presents good opportunities for organic growth. The major sub-sector of this market is high-rise housing – a market described by Uponor as “nearly untouched” with the share of plastic pipes still small in both plumbing and underfloor heating.
Chief executive Jan Lång said the company will allocate more resources to increase its market share in the sector. Until now the company has focused mainly on the single-family house and infrastructure markets.
A major restructuring effort has seen the company reduce its many different brands such as Polytherm, Unipipe and Ecoflex to just one name – Uponor.
Uponor said it will focus on three business groups: heating and cooling, plumbing, and infrastructure.
