Cincinnati introduces fast-change pipe systemExtrusion machinery manufacturer Cincinnati claims that its IntelliChange system will speed up pipe production. The system, introduced at Cincinnati’s pipes symposium yesterday, automatically adjusts pipe diameter and thickness during extrusion. It works in two diameter ranges: 40-90mm, and 90-160mm. Cincinnati’s technical manager Josef Dobrowsky said, during a demonstration of the system: “It is not related to a significant increase in equipment cost. It is easy, fast and simple – something different to other systems.” He claimed that rival fast-change systems are either less simple than IntelliChange, or may not be able to incorporate a special die-head like Cincinnati’s double spiral distributor system – the key to the system’s time-saving. Robert Rogina, production manager of plastic pipe producer Pipelife, said that by eliminating the need to change die-head, this system would save around one hour in downtime.
