The Danish caps and plug maker has opened a new factoryDanish injection moulder DBI Plastics has won a key automotive quality accreditation, a month after it opened a new factory.
The company claims it is the world’s first protective caps and plug manufacturer to achieve TS16949:2002 accreditation, enabling it to continue supplying OEMs including Delphi, Kautex Textron, Peugeot, Toyota and VW. At the end of November, DBI opened a new 1,500 sq metre production and storage facility at Stenmagle, close to its original factory at Stenlille. The investment included a number of new injection moulding machines, which the company says has increased manufacturing capacity by 20%, mainly in its cleanroom facility. Normally used for moulding medical products, the Class 8 cleanroom for automotive moulding was introduced in 2003 to prevent contamination from closures used in very small apertures – for example in diesel injection systems – that are sensitive to contaminating particles.
