The company enjoyed brisk growth in telecoms and electronics sectorsFinnish moulder Perlos is to expand its Chinese facility after revealing buoyant financial results this week.
The Beijing plant will be expanded by 6,400 sq metres through leasing suitable facilities in the vicinity. After the extension, the plant will cover 17,000 sq metres. The new facilities will become operational by the end of 2005. In the last quarter Perlos had net sales of E140.8m, up 24% on the same period last year. Operating profits surged from E4.9m in last year’s third quarter to E22.9m this year. Its telecoms division was responsible for the growth in business, while the healthcare division held steady. The company won two new customers in mobile telephone business, Japan’s NEC and China’s Huawei, and was expecting 25% volume growth in mobiles over the full year. Perlos is also to invest E14m in a telecoms manufacturing plant in Reynosa, Mexico. During the quarter it signed a strategic co-operation agreement with the Korean company Mosen Co, to use Mosen’s in-mould labelling technology, which enables the flexible coating and decoration of products already in the injection moulding stage.
