Technip has won two ethylene cracker contracts from PetroChina

Technip has won two ethylene cracker contracts from PetroChina for an undisclosed value, along with a ˆ21m contract from Enap Refinerias. The contracts cover engineering services for the detailed engineering and construction/start-up phase, as well the licence of Technip’s GK6 technology to allow the furnace to operate on a range of feedstocks, from naphtha to heavy oils.

The first project involves the expansion of six furnaces in the Jilin, China, ethylene plant, with four being expanded this year and the other two next year, taking total production from 380 000 tonne/year to 600 000 tonne/year.

The other contract covers the supply of three additional 60 000 tonne/year cracking furnaces at the 120 000 tonne/year Liaoyang, China, cracker. The first two furnaces will start up in July 2005 and the third by the end of next year. Both projects will be overseen by Technip’s engineering centre based in Zoetermeer, Netherlands.

For Enap Refinerias, the contractor will build a hydro-treating unit at the Bio Bio refinery in Talcahuano, Chile. The 12 000 bbl/day unit, based on Axens technology, is slated for completion in mid-2006.
