HD Hyundai Chemical was established from a strategic joint venture between HD Hyundai Oilbank and Lotte Chemical on May 20, 2014. We are launched as a form of joint venture in order to meet MX de mands of both HD Hyundai Oilbank and Lotte Chemical for their BTX plants, and to seek profitability from growing global demands. The ownership of HD Hyundai Chemical has been split 60–40 between HD Hyundai Oilbank and Lotte Chemical. At an estimated cost of 1.2 trillion KRW, our plants have been built over the area of 260,000㎡ within the HD Hyundai Oilbank plant site in Daesan, Chungcheongnam-do. Moreover, the construction of petrochemical Plant valued at 3.1 trillion Won for manufacturing petrochemical products such as polyethylene and polypropylene, etc is completed on March, 2022 and diversifies petrochemical products portfolio.

Condensate is used as a raw material to produce petroleum products such as LPG , naphtha, kerosene , and diesel , and petrochemical products such as MX and benzene . All products and by-products produced by Hyundai Chemical are sold to Hyundai Oilbank and Lotte Chemical , which are shareholders, and Hyundai Cosmo, a subsidiary of Hyundai Oilbank, according to contracts . It is the first joint venture between a domestic oil refinery and a petrochemical company.
