The sales department, which until now has been organized on a cross-market basis, will be divided into packaging and automotive divisions. Managing Partner Andreas Lichtenauer will be responsible for the Automotive division, which will also include composite and special applications. Alain Cappelle will be the new Director of the packaging division.
Through its development as an application-oriented sales organization, Kautex will be able to improve its proximity to its customers. The manufacturer of extrusion blow molding machines will therefore set the requirements for dealing more quickly and consistently with the application-specific requirements of its customers. This decision will also help the company strengthen its position as a partner for the development of new solutions along the production and value chain.
Alain Cappelle has been working with Kautex as a management assistant since October 2018. Before joining Kautex, he worked for nine years in various roles for the energy business at Siemens, where in his most recent position he was managing an internal startup for the digitalization of the Field Service. In his new position as Sales Director, Packaging—which he will start on May 1, 2019—he will be responsible for the planning, control and strategic orientation of the global sales activities of the Kautex Maschinenbau packaging division. Alain Cappelle is ready to take on this challenge. “Digitalization offers us tremendous opportunities. As well as boosting internal efficiency, it enables us to develop new products, services and business models for our customers,” explains the 34-year-old, who manages the sales department along with Andreas Lichtenauer. Lichtenauer is also Managing Partner and responsible for customers and markets. He has long-standing contacts in the automotive industry.
In engineering, changing customer and market demands call for rethinking in many areas. The different market segments often have very specific requirements regarding production processes, which in turn demand increasing specialization from the sales department. In the packaging division, Kautex sees a high level of market fragmentation, as well as the desire for shorter delivery times and a higher level of standardization. Issues such as traceability and a circular economy play an ever-greater role.
Collecting and evaluating machine and production data is therefore the basis for the automation of production processes and the development of an Industry 4.0 manufacturing environment. In addition, the company recognizes its responsibility to promote the recycling of plastics, and to work with its partners to optimize material usage. Kautex Maschinenbau is currently developing new products to increase efficiency in these areas, and to promote more effective production with recycled material.
