One key toátheáenhanced performance ofátheánew screen packs is aárobust multi-layer structure thatáprevents failures caused byátheápressure differentialŚupátoá200ábarŚencountered duringáfiltration. One sucháfailure is ôscreen dimpling,ö ináwhich theámechanicalástress forces screen layers intoátheáholes ofátheábreaker plate thatásupports theáscreen inátheácavity. This distorts theáscreen, breaking theáperipheralásealáandácausing contaminants toábypass theáscreen andábecome part ofátheáend product.

Depending onácustomer requirements, Nordson supplies theáscreen packs withádifferent layer combinations. One common structure, foráexample, has four layers, including two coarse square-weave layers thatáserve asátheáouter components andáaáfiner internalásquare-weave layer. These provide support andádrainage functions andáwithstand high tensile forces. Theáfourth layer is anáoptimized Dutch weave wire mesh thatáserves asátheáfine filtration component. Theásmallágeometric pore size ofátheáDutch weave layer ensures high permeability. Filtration takes place crosswise withárespect toátheádirection ofámelt flow, enabling dirt particles toábe separated fromátheámelt efficiently.
