R.D. Abbott’s VP of Technology to Highlight Innovations in Additive 3D Printing at MD&M West

R.D. Abbott Company, Inc. (RDAbbott) Vice President of Technology Rick Ziebell is scheduled to present “Innovations in Additive 3D Printing of Silicone Rubber Components” on Wednesday, February 7, from 10:15 – 11:00 a.m. at MD&M West 2018 in Anaheim, California.
According to Ziebell, “EVOLV3D™ is a new 3D printer technology that is opening up new ways silicone rubber parts are designed. Using heat-curable liquid silicone rubber (LSR) through a Liquid Additive Manufacturing (LAM) process, functional prototypes can be made in just a couple of days. The technology can offer a world of possibilities and applications in the manufacturing of anatomically customized devices.”
Specifically, Ziebell’s paper will address the following:
• EVOLV3D™ technology uses heat-cured LSR, allowing an easy transfer into injection molding processes for high-volume manufacturing.
• The potential applications are many and useful to both the design engineer and those in need of custom fitted type devices such as prosthetic and orthotics.
• Adaptability of the EVOLV3D™ technology to making unique one-off parts or anatomically customized devices is vast with little intellectual property restrictions so far.
The revolutionary, patent-pending EVOLV3D™ technology will be on display in M.R. Mold & Engineering’s booth 1346 throughout the conference. The LAM 3D printer and LSR materials were developed in collaboration with German RepRap GmbH and Dow Performance Silicones.
